Rod Salter
Artwork
submitted for bid
at our September 5, 2010 auction:

"TheDebonair"
20"x30", acrylic
Gallery Price:
$6,500
Rod Salter was born in Florida in 1962.
He became
interested in art at a young age. He drew comic strips for his grandparents
and was the youngest
participant (nine years of age) in a cartoon class offered by V.T. Hamlin,
the creator of
Alley Oop.
During his sophomore year at Bob Jones
University, where
he majored in fine art, Rod attended a Robert Bateman show at the Greenville
Art Museum. At this show Rod realized his true love for painting and decided
to pursue this as a career. Rod began a
study of painting under Robert Bateman that would
inspire many of his further works.
Rod was married to his wife Carol in
1988 and in 1989 was able to pursue art full time. Rod has participated
in various shows across the United States. Rod’s philosophy of painting
is simple - “A need to create.” Rod enjoys researching his subjects, creating
the proper compositions, defining the light
source and producing a pleasing object for others to enjoy. He hopes that
his work draws the viewer into the painting.
